Break the Election Gag Law, Legally

We have found a loophole in the NDP's moronic election gag act. This will allow any third party that wishes to, to advertise in the 1996 provincial election. We are offering any third party that wishes to use their own money (not that stolen from the population via taxes or regulation) to advertise their message as if it were a BC LIBERTARIAN PARTY commercial. We will place no restrictions on these third party messages because libertarians defend the free speech even of those whose messages we disagree with.

Any third party that wishes to advertise should contact our party's official agent PAUL GEDDES - 944-2845 to work out how this can be done. The only change necessary, will be to attach the following message to the end of their commercials: "This message is brought to you by the British Columbia Libertarian Party, a party that believes in the principle of free speech, even during elections."

Naturally we will charge no fee for making this service to free speech available. Of course, we will expect the third parties doing the advertising to pay all the costs of broadcasting their own commercials.

Why are we doing this? Libertarians wish to reduce the state's role in our lives to a minimum. This election gag law is just another example of the overreaching state using coercion to force us to conform to someone else's vision of society. Libertarians believe in leaving people free to pursue their own visions in life.

The BC Libertarian Party will be running twenty candidates in this election. We are trying to encourage greater liberty and self responsibility in BC. We want others to know about the great benefits that will come by leaving people free and turning moribund, repressive government services over to private, voluntary alternatives.
