"Peace, Freedom, and a few less fat bastards eating all the pie."
-Edmund Blackadder III
Medical technology's rapid change cannot be bureaucratically or politically managed. We defend your liberty to choose your own medical options.
Legislated monopoly of health care services will be ended. A Libertarian government will defend your liberty to choose your own health care providers and treatments.
Medicine comes in many forms. A Libertarian government will defend your liberty to choose any drug, medication or herb, including those prohibited by the federal government.
Forced charity is not charity. A Libertarian government will defend your liberty to support only those agencies that you deem to be socially beneficial.
Politically and legally, you should be entirely on your own, to operate a business, break your neck skydiving, consume any substance you wish, invent new things or enjoy old ones. It should be up to you to profit from your successes and suffer the full responsibility for your mistakes. Liberty of action should be restrained by only one principle: Do not initiate force or fraud against another person or their property.
Without a victim there is no crime. Libertarian principles of justice define any initiation of force or fraud by one person against another as criminal. Libertarians acknowledge each individual's right to defend themselves and others from criminal assault, by whatever means they deem necessary.
Legislated monopoly of judicial services will be ended. We defend your liberty to choose your own legal service providers.
By virtue of marriage and childbirth, parents are equal partners in the raising of their children. The Family Relations Act will be amended so that genuine equal joint custody will be the presumption.
All legislated monopoly of education services will be ended. A Libertarian government will defend your liberty to educate your children as you see fit.
A free society requires separation of government and economy. All legislated barriers to competition between businesses will be ended. These include all forms of commercial and professional licensing, restrictive quotas and marketing boards and other government regulation.
Private property is essential to the preservation of human liberty.
The Libertarian Party of British Columbia Constitution states:
"You shall not steal. Nor shall you take that which another has stolen on your behalf. You shall not encourage theft by electing or appointing another to steal for you or for any other person or cause or enact or support laws that legalize theft. Neither shall you condone theft on the basis of it being for the benefit of others. You shall not steal in any related sense by depriving another of his life, liberty, property or the product of his labour."
"Tax" is not defined in BC legislation. Therefore, we will define it in BC legislation as: "theft." A Libertarian government will repeal all legislated theft within BC and defend residents of BC from theft committed by other governments.
No Ministry will spend more funds than are voluntarily given, earned for services or gained through the sale of assets.
We will end the feudal "fee simple" land ownership system and replace it with "allodial" (absolute) ownership.
Homesteading will be the preferred method of settling all land claims in BC. Historical disputes will be settled through mediation, binding arbitration and the courts.
Resource management will be founded in the principles of private ownership, wherever and whenever possible.
